SG54 machine

The SG54 zero-turn, stand-on sprayer builds on the efficiency of our previous machines, featuring a pump output of up to 40 gallons per minute with a 100-gallon liquid capacity. It is ideal for efficient liquid applications, covering 400,000 square feet per fill using its standard ¼ gallon spray nozzles, meaning fewer refills. It also features a 12-foot boom, meaning less time and fuel spent on applications.

Comparing the SG54 to Standard Units

Our standard units—the SG36, SG42, SG46, and SG52—are spreader/sprayer units ranging from 30-60 gallon liquid capacities. The SG54 is strictly a sprayer with a 100-gallon liquid capacity. If you’re looking for a dual spreader/sprayer machine, check out our standard model comparison blog, but if you’re looking for a high-capacity, all-liquid unit, then the SG54 is a great option.

Our standard units all feature a 23.5 hp Kawasaki FX730V V-twin engine, with a similar Vanguard or Honda engine available as an alternative. The 20.8 hp GXV630 Honda V-twin engine that comes standard on the SG54 offers high horsepower, great adaptability, quiet operation, and excellent fuel efficiency. Standard accessories on the SG54 include the 2.5-gallon foam marker, 12’ boom, pressure control system, patent-pending hillside assist, and 100’ hose reel with roller guide and lock. These options are available as attachments to our standard lineup, except the 100’ hose reel with roller guide and lock. The 100’ hose reel is available as an option on the SG42, SG46, and SG52, but does not include the roller guide and lock system.

Comparing the SGXL and SG54

The SGXL is a 120-gallon zero-turn stand-on sprayer featuring a 14-foot, four-section, rear-mounted breakaway boom with electric hydraulic lift actuators that provide superior visibility to allow operators to monitor every nozzle’s performance. This machine has a much larger footprint than the SG54 and has optional features including an industry-first touch screen rate controller and a granular attachment kit with a 350-pound hopper and lift system to convert the SGXL to a high-capacity spreader.

The SGXL has more bells and whistles, but they both come standard with a 2.5-gallon foam marker, pressure control system, patent-pending hillside assist, and 100-foot hose reel with roller guide and lock. The biggest difference to consider is where the boom is located. The 12’ boom on the SG54 is front-mounted and the 14’ boom on the SGXL is rear-mounted.

In conclusion, the SG54 does not have a granular attachment option, but if you’re looking for a purpose-built sprayer, the SG54 is a great option and comes in at a great price point.
