How Accu-Way Technology Improves Granular Applications

accu-way technology

Steel Green machines are equipped with Spyker spreaders that use Accu-Way technology to ensure even distribution of granular products. How does Accu-Way technology work?

A typical rotary spreader broadcasts granules more heavily toward one side or the other, depending on the density of the granule. Density affects where the granules fall onto the impeller. If they fall close to the shaft, they sit on the impeller longer and disperse more heavily toward the right. If the granules fall onto the outer edge of the impeller, they disperse more heavily toward the left as the spinner turns clockwise. This process leads to striping on the turf.

Accu-Way technology prevents striping by controlling where the granules fall on the impeller. The bottom of the hopper has a wedge-shaped device that directs granules forward or backward. Regardless of the product size or application rate, Accu-Way technology provides an even spread pattern.

Setting the spread pattern for Accu-Way is simple. With an empty hopper, set the dial and open the gate. Then move the diffuser and watch to see how little it takes. This process will give you a good idea of your operating range.

As you spread your product, slowly pull the Accu-Way control toward you in small increments to center the spread pattern in front of you. Once it’s centered, lock the Accu-Way cable in place. You shouldn’t need to reset it for that product unless you bump the lever. If that happens, you can simply readjust the pattern as you continue spreading.

  1. So if you have an SG46 with the standard boom, what is the optimal width to set the spread with to so it matches the width of the spray to not have overlap or missed spots?
